The foundation
of the group is laid with "Satkar", a restaurant opposite
Churchgate Station in 1958.
In the
year 1972, "Samrat" Restaurant at Churchgate starts
its operation.
The group
gains more strength with the opening of "Suvidha Restaurant"
at DN Road and "Suruchi Restaurant" at New Marine Lines.
With
"Suruchi Restaurant and Bar", the group further expands
its operation into non-vegetarian eatery.
The group
further consolidates with the opening of "Status" and
"Santoor" in 1982 and here onwards a chain of "Kamats
Super Snacks" was commissioned.
Kamat
Hotels (India) Limited is incorporated on 21st March 1986.
The group
forays into residential properties and acquires "Hotel Shalimar"
in Vapi and builds another three Star Hotel at Silvassa.
The Plaza
Hotel a 4 star property near the domestic airport is acquired.
The group
ventures into clubs by starting two clubs at Goregaon and Lokhandwala.
Develops
resorts at Harnai Fort and Murud Harnai Beach Resort.
With
Kamat's Catering Institute the group establishes a premier hospitality
institute to cater to the growing man-power demands of the group
and the hospitality sector in general.
The group
gave the Country, Asia's First Five Star Ecotel "The Orchid"
in 1997.
In 2005 the group acquires "Lotus
Suites."
