It all started when Late Mr. Venkatesh Krishna Kamat opened a small restaurant at Mazgaon followed by Krishna Bhawan in Mumbai's Null Bazaar. And from then onwards, there was no looking back for him, adding various landmarks in the city consistently.

The Orchid - Asia's first Ecotel:

The Orchid is the flagship brand of the company and was fully operational from September 27th 1997.

It is Asia's first green hotel and was based on the trend of green hotels that were picking up a major chunk of business worldwide (87% of business travelers patronize green hotels).

Based on its stringent environmental commitments, The Orchid was awarded the 'Ecotel Certification' by an US-based firm, HVS International. Thus, it was christened as Asia's first Ecotel.

It has received 42 prestigious international and national environment awards including the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award from his Holiness - the Dalai Lama in Palampur.

This was just the beginning for Vithal Kamat. His working philosophy based on three D's - Determination, Dedication and Discipline leading to his Destiny to find success has made him embark on journeys to carry the Ecotel torch on a nationwide level.

Ecotels

In a short span of ten years, two more Ecotels have come up in the city; The Lotus Suites and Rodas at Hiranandani in Powai. The Lotus Suites is a four star Ecotel with 183 rooms including standard rooms, studios and apartments. Like Orchid, The Lotus Suites follows stringent environment norms and is the only hotel to initiate a RainWater Harvesting Movement in Mumbai. Rodas is a boutique hotel and also follows stringent environment norms.There are now Orchids opening all across the country the first 2 to join will be Nagpur and Raipur

Uppal's Orchid

The company through its sister concern manages a five star deluxe property, Uppal's Orchid in New Delhi, enjoying the enviable reputation of the certified Leading Small Hotel (LSH) in the world. The company has also set its foot on the foreign soil and is presently managing a star property, Chinggis Khaan hotel, in Mongolia.
